Technology: Nanostat™, a nano emulsion made of soybean oil, alcohol, water, and surfactants emulsified into droplets 200 to 600 nanometers in diameter. They have proven effective at killing a variety of bacteria, fungi, and viruses in laboratory tests.

Company: NanoBio Corp. The company, founded in 2000, is a spin-out of the Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences at the University of Michigan. Baker heads the institute and the company.

Products: Potential target treatments for cold sores, nail fungus, acne, and cystic fibrosis; and mucosal vaccines against influenza, hepatitis B, and RSV.
